FERMOY TOASTMASTERS

Welcome to Fermoy Toastmasters.
Serving Fermoy for 38 YEARS

Firstly, let's get one thing clear. When you come as a guest to Toastmasters you will be obliged to do NOTHING. Guests are NEVER asked to speak or perform in any way. You just observe. At the tea-break you can talk to a senior committee member about the Club and its activities.

We do not consider ourselves to be a snobby clique rising above mere mortals - that is the unfortunate assumption people sometimes make about Toastmasters.

So who are we? We are an entertainment organisation, an informative organisation, a self-help group and a night course in speechmaking and communication - all rolled into one.

The Benefits of Membership

Whatever your goals in life may be, your success depends on your ability to communicate.   Individuals who can express their ideas - so that they are heard, understood and acted upon - possess one of the primary qualities of leadership.

Join a Toastmasters Club and embark on a programme that will multiply your communication and leadership skills.

Over three million people have benefited from participating in Toastmasters. There are over two thousand members in 110 Clubs in the UK and Ireland. You, too, can gain these same benefits - benefits that will change your life.

As a Toastmaster, you will learn how to:

·     Overcome the initial nervousness everyone feels when called upon to speak before an audience.

·     Organise and present your ideas logically and convincingly.

·     Improve your ability to listen to other people’s ideas and evaluate them.

·     Develop self-confidence that will radiate in every situation involving other people.

Club Members have a wealth of experience to offer each other and it’s not expensive.

Toastmasters is a not-for-profit organisation.   Membership costs about the same as a night school course.

Why join Toastmasters?

Approximately 90-95% of Toastmasters joined because they had to address a small group of people from time to time.  In many cases, the group was as small as 6-8 people.

In this type of situation, for example a departmental meeting, a member may have had the knowledge, but lacked the know how when it came to communicating his or her ideas to other members of the group.

In the warm, friendly atmosphere of a Toastmasters Club, members have found that they overcame nerves, gained tremendous confidence and assertiveness and were able to motivate their fellow workers.

Even if you are not involved in business, you can still gain from membership of Toastmasters.

Are you:

·      Currently looking for another job?

·      A housewife?

·      A teacher?

·      A retired person?

·  An employee who has passed all the promotion exams, but doesn’t have the confidence to take a leadership position?

·      Are your views sought after and respected at meetings?

Think of the pleasure, satisfaction and stimulation you will derive from association with other people like yourself - part of lively and interesting interaction with other members of a Toastmasters Club.
