Serving Fermoy for 38 YEARS

The following is a List of Achievements by Fermoy Toastmasters during the past 37 years:

·        Padraigh O’Braoin won 2 National Speech Titles in 1974, a feat never since equalled in the UK & Ireland region.

·        Club Founder Niall Brunicardi was District Governor of the UK & Ireland region in 1971 - the highest leadership position outside of the USA.

·        Hosted the UK & Ireland Annual Conference and Speech Club Finals in 1979.

·        Bill Hammond, the distinguished Playwright and Novelist were a long-time member.

·        Jim Bartley, a former member of the Fermoy U.D.C., was a member.

·        Other Members Of Prominence In The Local Community Whose Names You May Recognise Include: J.J. Bunyan, Kevin Mansfield, Michael Caplice, Michael Bartley, Pat Kearney, Christy Roche, Ann Buckley, Eileen Finnerty, Bill Hennessy, Pat Noonan, Pat Kenny, Bill Dowling and Pat O’Shea. Margaret Leahy, Donal Murphy, Betty Arnold, Michael Cahill, Pat Sexton.

·        Deceased Members Of Prominence In The Local Community include Nan Gannon(RIP), Jack Giltinan (RIP), Oliver Langley (RIP),

·        Brian O'Farrell achieved Second Place in the 1995 UK & Ireland Table Topics Final.

·        Orison Carlile competed in the 2000 UK & Ireland Serious Speech Final.

·        Margaret Moore who was recipient of the Paul G. Murphy Division A (Munster Region) Toastmaster of the Year Award 1998-99.

·        Martin Walsh was area 17 Governor last year (1999-2000). Previously held by Fermoy Toastmasters was 1993.

·        Kevin Walsh went on to represent the Munster Region in Dublin in 1995.

·        Finbarr O'Shea, represented the Club in 1988 UK & Ireland Speech Finals.
